Dermatology Meets Oncology: Exploring the Interface of Oncodermatology

This session will introduce the rapidly growing field of oncodermatology. Diagnosis, grading, and management of toxicities will be covered as well as a framework to approach the cancer patient with cutaneous toxicities to therapy.

 At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Know how to categorize cancer therapeutics for toxicity assessments
  2. Understand the grading of dermatologic adverse events
  3. Review the scope of immune related adverse events in patients on immunotherapy
  4. Learn the considerations that go into toxicity attribution and considerations for re-challenge

Assistant Professor of Dermatology

UT Southwestern Medical Center

Meghan Heberton is an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is boarded in both internal medicine and dermatology. In 2022 she moved to Dallas and UTSW to found and direct the Oncodermatology Program at Simmons Cancer Center. The program provides comprehensive dermatologic care to patients treated at the cancer center with cutaneous concerns. She is an expert in cutaneous toxicities to cancer therapeutics, graft versus host disease, cancer associated dermatoses, and general dermatologic care of the cancer patient. She is passionate about her field, and the mentoring and education of trainees. In her free time she enjoys her 2 year old son, poorly behaved dogs, cooking, and interior design.
