This lecture will follow along the journey of Clinical research.  We will review how a drug is studied through rigorous stages, how a patient is evaluated and how to interpret different data that is published.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Discuss the process of how a clinical trial comes to be
2. Understand the phases of a clinical trial
3. Know how to evaluate a patient 
4. Understand the results from the different measures used to evaluate data

Alexa graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Kinesiology. She then earned a Master of Science (MS) in the Physician Assistant program at Monmouth University, where she was recognized for academic excellence and outstanding leadership with induction into the Phi Alpha National Honor Society. In her current role she has participated in hundreds of clinical trials and helped develop dozens of Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS) at Schweiger Dermatology, formerly Windsor Dermatology. She even spent 6 months working as a Clinical Trial Coordinator before matriculation into PA school. Alexa has also published multiple peer reviewed articles based on the ISSs that she helped create. Her participation in research and seeing what's next in medicine for our dermatologic patients has helped foster a desire to help educate her peers to better serve our patients.
