This module will explore the impact of various physical agents on the skin. Section 1 focuses on photodermatoses, exploring how ultraviolet light affects the skin and identifying specific morphologies and patterns associated with photodermatoses. Section 2 covers environmental and sports-related skin injuries, including those resulting from temperature extremes, chemical exposure, pressure, friction, and repeated trauma.
1 CME credit
After participating in this module, the learner will be able to:
Section 1: Photodermatoses
- Define wavelengths of ultraviolet light and their respective effects on the skin.
- Identify morphology and patterns associated with photodermatoses.
- Identify potential causes of photoallergy or phytophotodermatitis.
Section 2: Environmental and Sports-Related Skin Injuries
- Identify and manage cutaneous injuries due to temperature.
- Identify and manage cutaneous injuries due to chemical exposure.
- Identify and manage cutaneous injuries due to pressure, friction, or repeated trauma to the skin.
- Identify and manage common sports injuries to the skin.
