This module provides an in-depth exploration of complex dermatologic conditions affecting the skin and connective tissues. Across three sections, this module will help to identify, diagnose, and manage a variety of autoimmune and connective tissue disorders. Each section focuses on different groups of diseases, including lupus erythematosus and dermatomyositis, sclerotic skin disorders, and connective tissue disorders.

Section 1: Lupus Erythematosus and Dermatomyositis
- Recognize the clinical features of cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CCLE, SCLE, ACLE).
- Understand the association between skin changes with cutaneous lupus erythematosus and systemic disease.
- Discuss the treatment algorithm for cutaneous lupus erythematosus.
- Recognize the clinical features of dermatomyositis.
- Understand the workup for dermatomyositis including screening for associated malignancy.
- Discuss the treatment algorithm for dermatomyositis.
Section 2: Sclerotic Diseases
- Discuss the spectrum of sclerosing skin disorders from local skin disease to systemic disease.
- Identify cutaneous manifestations of sclerosing skin disorders.
- List the workup of patients with suspected sclerosing skin disorders.
- Discuss treatment options for the various types of sclerosing diseases.
Section 3: Connective Tissue Disorders
- Recognize the different types of perforating disorders and their etiologies.
- Discuss the differential diagnoses of perforating disorders.
- Understand the treatment option for perforating disorders.
- Recognize heritable connective tissue disorders including characteristic skin findings.
- Identify the different types of dermal hypertrophies and discuss the pros and cons of various treatment options.
- Recognize conditions associated with atrophic changes in the skin and discuss treatment options and their limitation in these conditions.
