Practical Management Approaches for HS
Recorded On: 06/26/2025
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition that often presents significant challenges in both diagnosis and management. This session offers a practical approach to treating HS across its clinical spectrum. Attendees will learn how to effectively assess disease subtypes, initiate medical therapies, and implement adjunctive treatments including lifestyle modifications and procedural interventions. Special attention will be given to patient communication strategies, managing flares, and navigating treatment access barriers. This lecture is designed to equip dermatology PAs with the tools and confidence to optimize outcomes for patients living with HS.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify the clinical features and subtypes of hidradenitis suppurativa
- Differentiate between treatment options based on disease presentation, including topical, systemic, and biologic therapies
- Apply practical strategies for decreasing HS flares
- Integrate adjunctive approaches such as pain management and lifestyle modifications into the treatment plan
- Recognize barriers to care and implement solutions to improve treatment access and adherence.
