In this session on vulvovaginal dermatology, we will delve into the various skin disorders affecting the genital region, highlighting their clinical features, diagnosis, and management. Attendees will gain insight via examples of cases, treatment options, and the importance of a patient-centered approach to care for these challenging conditions. Join to enhance your understanding of these often-underdiagnosed conditions and improve outcomes for these underserved patient populations.

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Recognize the gap in care for patients suffering from vulvovaginal conditions and develop a strategy to integrate these unique patient encounters into a dermatology clinic. 
2. Identify common vulvovaginal diseases including lichen sclerosus, lichen planus, lichen simplex chronicus, and contact dermatitis based on clinical presentation and history
3. Recognize challenging cases or presentations and review diagnostic techniques to assist in evaluating these patients.
4. Review treatment options for vulvovaginal conditions including topical treatments, systemic treatments, and lifestyle modifications, tailored to different conditions. 
5. Address the psychosocial impact of these conditions for patients and integrate a patient-centered holistic care approach including patient education and assisting in creating a healthcare team for these patients such as sexual health counselors or pelvic floor physical therapists.

Audrey Rutherford, MD, FAAD

Board-Certified Dermatologist

Audrey Rutherford, MD, FAAD is a Board-Certified Dermatologist dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, and management of a wide array of dermatologic conditions. She completed her dermatology residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas and has since been in private practice. Dr. Rutherford has published original research in notable journals including Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. In addition to expertise in general and surgical dermatology, Dr. Rutherford has a particular passion for vulvovaginal dermatology and women’s health. She is an active member of several international societies such as the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Diseases and the American Academy of Dermatology. She currently practices in Denver, Colorado.
