    Jennifer Conner grew up in Indiana and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Marian University in Indianapolis in 2003. Following her undergraduate education, she attended the U.S. Army Interservice Physician Assistant Program at Fort Sam Houston and earned a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 2005. She served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 11 years as a medic, Medical Specialist Corps officer, and battalion physician assistant. Jennifer began her career as a PA in dermatology in 2006 and practices in Indianapolis at Dawes Fretzin Dermatology, where she also serves as a sub-investigator in clinical research trials. Jennifer is a past president of the SDPA, was a founding trustee of the Dermatology PA Foundation, is a founding advisory board member for the Elevate-Derm Alliance and manages the Skin Sync podcast. She is a mom of 3 and avid marathoner outside of clinic.

They’ll cover what inspired this project, how their author team used the eDelphi method to write the consensus statements and collaborated to form the guidelines, and how interested PAs may get involved in research and publication.

    Hayden Middleton DMSc, PA-C

    Hayden Middleton is a family medicine PA, educator, and researcher who currently works for M Health Fairview in St. Paul, Minnesota and also serves as adjunct faculty in the Doctor of Medical Science Program at Augsburg University. He has a special clinical and research interest in dermoscopy, dermatology, procedural medicine, and LGBTQIA+ medicine. He has presented both CME and his research at the local, state, national, and international conferences. He is a previous AAPA-PAEA Research Fellow and has published in multiple peer-reviewed journals over his career. He was recently awarded the Journal of Dermatology for Physician Assistants 2024 Most Impactful Article of the Year. He also serves as the current MAPA President and DEI Committee co-chair for the Minnesota Academy of PAs. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his husband, Michael, and cats - Lila, Sasha, and Meghan. 

    Erin Monahan DMSc, PA-C, CAQ-Derm

    Erin Monahan DMSc, PA-C, CAQ-Derm is a specialty-certified dermatology PA and SDPA Diplomate Fellow with 9 years of experience in medical and surgical dermatology. Erin works for Essentia Health in Duluth Minnesota where she was named 2023’s APP of the year and recently became Associate Section Chair of the dermatology department. She is passionate about educating future and fellow clinicians and has spoken at several local, regional, and national conferences on topics such as hair loss, pruritis, look-alike rashes, and skin cancer. Erin also teaches the dermatology curriculum for the College of Saint Scholastica’s PA program.

    The Laser Therapies for Medical Dermatology webinar will introduce attendees to laser treatments that may help improve their patients' dermatologic conditions. We will discuss a variety of medical conditions, such as tattoo allergy, folliculitis, keloids, hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia, and vascular malformations, that can be treated safely and effectively with lasers in the dermatology setting. Risks, benefits, and other treatment considerations will be discussed, as well as methods to help support the physician associate to obtain authorization from insurers if they are offering these therapies.

Dr. Okoye earned her Medical Degree from Columbia University’s College of Physicians & Surgeons and completed her dermatology residency training at Yale University, where she also served as Chief Resident. She has been recognized by the American Academy of Dermatology with a Presidential Citation, a Volunteerism Award, a Patient Care Hero Award, and the 2023 William James, M.D. Mentor of the Year Award.
